European Environment Agency: 15 independent experts appointed members of the scientific advisory board

15 independent scientific experts, covering a broad range of relevant disciplines, are appointed members of the European Scientific advisory board on Climate change for its second term (2026 until 2030), announced the European Environment Agency (EEA) on 04/12/2025. Among the experts, 9 were already members during the first term.

The members are "designated by the EEA Management Board for a 4-year term, renewable once", the EEA said. "No more than two members of the Advisory Board can hold the nationality of the same Member State."

Established in 2021 by the European Climate Law, the Scientific Advisory board :
• "strives to identify policy options and pathways to achieve fast and cost-effective greenhouse gas emission reductions in Europe ensure continuous progress in adapting to climate change ;
• assesses policy and implementation gaps, and advises on actions needed to improve existing policies".
