Biogas: "Standardisation and increased capacity as economic levers" (Arnaud Bossis, CVE Biogaz)

"Standardisation is a real lever for economic gains. The second lever is to increase the production capacity of the sites. Then we need to get digestate out of its current 'waste' status, and also to have the possibilit to build on farmlands", told Arnaud Bossis, Managing Director of French company CVE Biogaz, to News Tank on 04/12/2025.

" We are aiming to produce 1.5 TWh by 2030. This represents around fifty medium-power sites. To produce 1.5 TWh, we need to mobilise 1.2 million tonnes of organic waste to feed our sites. That's roughly the same amount of fertiliser that we will be producing. And we could recover 50,000 tonnes of bioCO2 by equipping 50% of our sites with a recovery unit. This CO2 could be used to make e-fuels.

The price of organic materials is tending to rise. Today, producers sell organic matter to the methanisation market, and this has an impact on the cost of producing biomethane. To offset this, we are trying to set up industrial synergies between several sites to optimise our operating costs; we are thinking about the use of stocks of maintenance parts, and we…
