EU: 235 cross-border energy projects acknowledged as Projects of Common / Mutual Interest (PCIs / PMIs)

Granting 235 cross-border energy projects the status of Project of Common Interest (PCIs) or of Project of Mutual Interests (PMIs), which enables their owners to apply for EU financing from the Connecting Europe facility and to benefit from faster permitting and regulatory processes: this announcement of the European Commission marks an important step towards the completion of the Energy Union. This is the second Union list of PCIs and PMIs established under the revised Trans-European Networks for Energy Regulation (TEN-E) from 2022, and it will replace its predecessor, published in 2023.

PCIs are designed to complete the EU energy market and create cross-border infrastructure between Member States. PMIs encompass cross-border infrastructure between EU and non-EU countries, contributing to the EU's energy and climate goals. The PMI list covers 25 projects with Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Western Balkans, North African countries, Norway and Georgia.
