Green corridors: new announcements and the "feasibility wall" (Getting to Zero 2025 report)

"Green corridors continue to be announced across new geographies, while many established initiatives make steady progress. On the other hand, there is growing hesitation and uncertainty about where to steer the corridors next, stemming from policy delays or other barriers, such as the fuel cost gap. ": these are the main findings of a report from the Getting to Zero Coalition and the Global Maritime Forum, published on 27/11/2025. The aim of the report is to provide an overview of progress within green corridors since their emergence at the 2021 Glasgow climate talks.

The 2025 annual progress report shows that 25 new initiatives have been launched since the previous edition in 2024, bringing total of zero-emission trade routes' initiatives to 84 worldwide as 01/10/2025. Overall, 53% of them are dedicated to deep-sea routes, 36% to short sea and 11% are mixed or still to be-determined (TBD).

The report shows there has been an increase in new engagement from Asia, Latin America, and Africa, includinG 4 announcements of new green corridor initiatives in India, the same number in China…
