EP/ EUDR : MEPs in favour of a one-year postponement and a simplification review clause

402 MEPs voted in favour of simplification measures regarding the EUDR (EU deforestation regulation), 250 voted against and 8 abstained, during the plenary session in Strasbourg on 26/11/2025.

Supported by PPE, ECR, PfE and ESN MEPs, as well as some MEPs from Renew Europe, the text is close to the Council position, which had called on 19/11/2025 for a one-year postponement and a simplification review clause allowing the legislation to be reopened for further changes by 30/04/2026.

Under the Parliament and the Council position, the EUDR would therefore apply from 30/12/2026 for medium and large operators, while implementation for SMEs would be extended by six months, with an entry into force on 30/06/2027.

"This additional time is intended to guarantee a smooth transition and to allow the implementation of measures to strengthen the IT system that operators, traders and their representatives use to make electronic due diligence statements", declared the European Parliament on 26/11/2025.
