EU: "The Bioeconomy Strategy will enable to scale up the sector" (Jessika Roswall, Commissioner)

Creating a coherent and simplified regulatory framework to foster circular and sustainable business models, based on products creation from biological ressources : that it is the aim of new European Commission's Bioeconomy Strategic Framework, presented by Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Climate,Circular Economy and Water Resilience, in Brussels, on 27/11/2025.

With a value of up to €2,700 Bn in 2023 and employing 17.1 million people (around 8% of EU jobs), the EU bioeconomy already contributes significantly to job creation and economic growth in Europe. Every job in the bioeconomy creates three indirect jobs in the EU.
Primary sectors such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture provide new opportunities to feed new value chains based on biomasse processing, biomanufacturing and biotechnologies. It enables to process new products in food, health, energy, industry, ecosystem and other services. Yet, most of this potential remains untapped.
