Offshore wind power: France Énergies Marines leader of the European research project COMPASS

The European COMPASS project (Comprehensive Offshore Management Platform for Assessing Sustainability), launched in early November and coordinated by France Énergies Marines, aims to develop a decision-making platform with tools and recommendations to improve the sustainability of offshore wind farms, announced France Energies Marines on 25/11/2025.

Selected under the Horizon Europe programme, the project receives 5 M€ in funding over four years, until the end of 2029. It brings together 14 partners from academia, research institutes and industry in eight European countries.

According to France Énergies Marines, the platform to be delivered at the end of the project will gather the most relevant environmental, economic and social assessment tools and link them with wind farms digital twins. The objective is to help stakeholders identify suitable trade-offs related to acceptability, impacts and performance of offshore wind projects, both fixed and floating.
