A new district heating and cooling offer, named Ecothermal Grid; a £1Bn projects pipeline in the UK; a complete refoundation and phasing out of coal of Poznan's district heating network, in Poland: Veolia unveiled its ambition to become the European district heating and cooling leader by 2030, disclosing also some major projects and prospectives in two countries, on 25/11/2025.

Operating already some 500 district heating networks across Europe, Veolia sees a huge growth potential in district heating and cooling networks, in the EU and in the UK: the European market could grow from an estimated €60Bn in 2023 to €80Bn in 2030, and already represents £80 Bn in the UK. The Group forecasts a turnover of €350 M for this activity in 2030, and confirms also its objective a complete coal phase-out in the same year.

Decarbonisation goals, energy efficiency and security of supply are the three key drivers for this major shift towards district networks, provided efficient regulatory support policies are conducted by the national and European authorities.
