EIB/ Edison: €800M loan to promote Italy’s energy transition

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a first €200M loan to Edison to promote Italy’s energy transition, announced the bank on 21/11/2025. This announcement was made during the signature ceremony between Gelsomina Vigliotti, EIB Vice-President, and Nicola Monti, Edison Chief Executive Officer, in Milan, on 21/11/2025. This loan will be followed by others in the coming years: indeed, the EIB has committed to providing a total €800M package to Edison.

In 2023, Edison’s strategic plan formalised the company's commitment to make investments that are 75% aligned with the EU Taxonomy by 2030.

“The EIB financing is a further recognition of our ongoing sustainability journey. We are a leading player in Italy’s energy transition, and this agreement demonstrates the strength of our commitment and investment plan focusing on renewables, efficiency and energy security to support the sustainable development of the country”, said Nicola Monti.
