EIB: €17.7bn of financing to support the ecological transition, competitiveness and innovation

The EIB and the European Investment Fund (EIF, a branch of the EIB) announced on 20/11/2025 a financing package totalling €17.7Bn to boost the green transition, strengthen Europe's economic competitiveness and resilience, and deepen global partnerships.

The areas financed include semiconductor manufacturing, battery storage, adaptation to the effects of climate change in Italy and Germany, renewable energy projects by French companies, and energy networks in Greece, Slovakia and Italy. Outside the European Union, the EIB has approved clean energy projects in Tunisia and Egypt.

The financing includes €4.2Bn for the TechEU programme, designed to support technological innovation in the EU.

In 2024, the EIB financed around 900 projects, totalling €89bn. 60% of these investments support climate action and environmental sustainability in the EU.
