EP / EU 2026 budget: additional 10 M€ allocated to the LIFE programme ahead of its end in 2027

"We secured an agreement on key priorities. This includes enhanced security for citizens, with reinforced border management and military mobility, strengthened food security and health, and new opportunities for businesses, farmers and young people, through additional support for Horizon Europe research initiatives, the promotion of agricultural products and a strengthened Erasmus+ programme", stated Andrzej Halicki (EPP, Poland), general rapporteur for the EU's 2026 budget, following the provisional deal reached between the Parliament and the Council on 15/11/2025.
The overall budget of 192.8 Bn€ has been increased by the European Parliament, which negotiated an additional 372.7 M€ compared to the Commission's initial proposal. According to the Parliament, these additional funds aim to improve people's lives, boost competitiveness and address defence challenges.
Certain funds and programmes linked to transitions receive additional allocations, including:
