COP30: Wopke Hoestra as leader of the EU negotiating team of the COP30 in Belém from 17 to 21/11/2025

Wopke Hoekstra, Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth, will lead the EU negotiating team of the COP30 UN Climate Change Conference in Belém (Brazil) from 17 to 21/11/2025, announced the Commission on 14/11/2025.

Beforehand, from 14/11/2025 to 17/11/2025, Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing, has participated in a series of COP30 energy-related events, including the dedicated Energy Days, to push forward the transition away from fossil fuels and towards more renewable energy and energy efficiency worldwide. He has also participated in a number of ministerial meetings and dialogues about methane emissions reduction, grids and storage, the EU-LAC (Latin America and the Caribbean ) energy transition, the carbon market coalition and global efforts in transitioning away from fossil fuels.

On its side, Wopke Hoekstra will work hand in hand with the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU and the Member States to ensure COP30 makes progress in keeping the goals of the Paris Agreement within reach. Ten years ago, the 195 Parties signatories of the treaty…
