EIB Global: a new fund to finance an advisory programme on green investments

Financing the Greening Financial Systems (GFS) programme, an EIB advisory programme for central banks and financial institutions on green investments, is the aim of the new climate fund set up by EIB Global, announced the development arm of the EIB Group on 13/11/2025.

The first donors are Germany (€30m) and Luxembourg (€2m); the three parties have signed an agreement at COP30 in Belém (Brazil). The GFS programme was initially financed by Germany as part of its International Climate Initiative (IKI Fund). It is now supported by a fund open to other donors.

"The agreement strengthens the financial foundations of the GFS programme, under which the EIB is working with the authorities and investors to address climate threats such as droughts, fires and floods and to redirect financing towards clean energy through regulatory measures", states the institution.
