EUDR: MEPs in favor of fast-tracking the Commission's proposal; no clear majority in Council

At the plenary session in Brussels on 13/11/2025, MEPs approved EPP Group and ENVI Committee's request to use the urgency procedure to simplify the EU deforestation law. MEPs will vote on the contents of the file at the upcoming plenary session in Strasbourg, which will take place from 24 to 27/11/2025.

As set out in Rule 170(6) of the institution's Rules of Procedure, the urgency procedure enables Parliament to adopt, on an exceptional basis, a position without a report or based on an oral report from the relevant committee. The text is therefore debated directly in the plenary session.

On 11/11/2025, during the ENVI Committee, Jessika Roswall, the Commissioner for the Environment, Water, Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, presented the Commission's proposal to amend the EU Deforestation Regulation.
