The Global Initiative on Information Integrity on Climate Change, launched during the G20 meeting in Rio de Janeiro in december 2024, has unveiled its founding declaration at COP30 in Belém (Brazil): the Declaration on Information Integrity on Climate Change, designed to tackle climate disinformation, while promoting accurate, evidence-based information on climate issues.

"We live in an era in which obscurantists reject scientific evidence and attack institutions. It is time to deliver yet another defeat to denialism", declared Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, during the COP30 which started on 10/11/2025 and will continue until 21/11/2025.

The Declaration establishes shared international commitments at international, national and local levels, in line with the principles of the Paris Agreement.

Under the Declaration, signatories (13 countries as of today) commit to:

• Promote the integrity of information related to climate change in line with international human rights law, including freedom of expression standards;
