Gathering feedback from stakeholders and citizens about the future development and deployment in Europe of SMRs (Small Modular Reactors), before the Commission adoption planned in the 1st quarter of 2026: that is the purpose of the public consultation (Have your say), opened by the European Commission on 06/11/2025, until 04/12/2025. This consultation aims to identify key enabling conditions, potential barriers and concrete milestones to ensure a concrete deployment of SMRs across Europe.

The consultation follows the publication of the "European Industrial Alliance on SMRs Strategic Action Plan" announced on 12/09/2025, which is carried by the European Commission, in partnership with NuclearEurope and SNETP (Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform), to ensure the deployment of the first SMR projects in Europe by the early 2030s.

"The timely deployment of SMRs is crucial for maintaining the competitiveness of European industry, driving the energy transition towards a carbon-neutral future by 2050, and enhancing the EU's strategic autonomy in the energy sector", declared the EC.
