COP30: "Decision-makers must recognise the role of rail" (Véronique Andriès, Alstom)

"We want decision-makers to recognise the role of rail and adopt policies that encourage investment in public and rail transport. National climate plans (NCPs) should include stronger and more concrete actions on these issues. Some already mention modal shift and funding, but not enough. Transport systems must also complement other modes, particularly active mobility such as cycling and walking. For example, access to an underground, tram or suburban train station is part of the user’s overall journey. Recognising this means ensuring safe and convenient access. , Véronique Andriès, Alstom's Vice President for Sustainable Development and CSR, told News Tank on 12/11/2025.

Alstom is taking part in COP30, organised from 10 to 21/11/2025 in Belem (Brazil). The Group is sponsoring the Transport pavilion, a new feature of the COP, organised jointly by the Brazilian Ministry of Cities, the Ministry of Ports and Airports and the Ministry of Transport, in partnership with Sistema Transporte and the SLOCAT association.
