Dominica, Myanmar and Honduras most exposed countries to extreme weather events (Climate Risk Index 2026)

Dominica, Myanmar and Honduras were the countries most affected by extreme weather events' impact between 1995 and 2024, together with Libya and Haiti, showed the CRI (Climate Risk Index) 2026, published on 11/11/2025 by german NGO Germanwatch, who stated that "human-induced climate change affects the frequency and intensity of these events and leads to widespread adverse climate impact".

This retrospective index ranks countries by economic and human effect, with the most affected country ranked first. Based on data from the EMDAT international disaster database, World Bank, and International Monetary Fund (IMF), the CRI aims to contextualise international climate policy debates and processes and see the climate risk countries are facing.

The CRI assessed that all countries are affected by extreme weather events, but those in the Global South are particularly impacted.
