European Commission: Public procurement and promotion central to organic stakeholders’ requests

Boosting the consumption of organic products through public procurement and promotion was the main request made by stakeholders from across the organic supply chain, including farmers, processors, control bodies, and retailers, to Christoph Hansen, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, on 10/11/2025 in Brussels.

Christoph Hansen was hosting the second Dialogue on the Implementation of the Organic Policy. The meeting aimed to gather views from those implementing this policy and also from those primarily concerned by this policy, launched in 2021 and due to end in December 2025.

The Action Plan seeks to strengthen both production and demand in the organic sector, while improving its environmental sustainability. By 2030, 25% of EU agricultural land should be managed organically. The purpose of the meeting was to assess what factors could drive further progress. About 15 representatives from across Europe, including participants from Ireland, Sweden, France, Italy, and Croatia, took part in a round table discussion.
