COP30: "Strong and clear outcomes to signal that climate cooperation is delivering results" (S. Stiell)

The COP30 takes place in Bélem, Brazil, from 10 to 21/11/2025. 50.000 participants are expected to gather at this high-level event to discuss the progress made since the Paris Agreement, ten years ago, in the global fight against climate change. Wopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner for Climate, Net-Zero and Clean Growth, will attend, as well as a delegation of 15 MEPs and European Heads of State and Government. India, China, and the United States, the three largest polluters worldwide, have not sent a State leader to this event.

Key topics of discussions include mitigation and adaptation strategies of countries and the joint effort to mitigate and adapt globally, use of international carbon credits to reach national or regional climate goals, financing strategies, including the integration of actors from the private sector, and solidarity between developed and developing countries through dedicated financial instruments, transparency and assessment of the implementation of current objectives and remaining gaps.
