EU / Council: adoption of the negotiating mandate on chemicals and fertilisers (Omnibus VI)

The Council of the EU has adopted its position on the remaining part of the "Omnibus VI" package, a proposal to simplify the rules in the field of chemicals, on 05/11/2025. The draft legislation simplifies certain provisions relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of chemicals and fertilisers.

Following this approval by the representatives of the Member States, the Presidency can begin negotiations with the European Parliament with a view to reaching a final agreement.

" With today's negotiating mandate, we are ensuring that consumers remain protected while simplifying the rules for businesses. Strong consumer protection is at the heart of responsible regulation, and Denmark will continue to work for high standards in the forthcoming negotiations on simplifying European regulation. Simplification must never be at the expense of consumers' health," says Magnus Heunicke, Danish Minister for the Environment.
