EP: Agri & Envi Comittees in favour of a swift and easier implementation of biological control products

97 MEPs voted for the report for a faster registration and uptake of biological control agents in plant protection, eight voted against and two abstained during the joint ENVI-AGRI committee meeting in Brussels on 04/11/2025. The Parliament's plenary vote is expected to take place between 24 and 27/11/2025, during the plenary session.

Prior to this vote, MEPs also adopted the 12 compromise amendments on the draft report. The committee meeting lasted around 5 minutes and was described by a French MEP as « the fastest vote in history».

"The broad support across political groups shows that Parliament is ready to take concrete steps towards innovation and sustainability in our food system. If we want to reduce dependency on chemical pesticides, farmers need accessible, safe, and effective alternatives. Biocontrol solutions can deliver that, if we give them the right framework to thrive", declared Anna Strolenberg, MEP (Greens / EFA, Netherlands), on 04/11/2025.
