EU / Innovation Fund: €2,9 Bn funding to 61 Net Zero technology projects

€2.9 Bn in grants allocated to 61 innovative Net Zero technology projects: this was the amount announced on 03/11/2025 by the European Commission, as a result of the first Net Zero Technology call for tender, launched in December 2024 by the Commission. The funding comes from the Innovation Fund, using revenues from the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).

The 61 selected projects (among 359 applications) span 19 industrial sectors, 18 countries and different scales, reflecting the EU's ambition to decarbonise through a wide range of technologies and applications. The focus is on energy-intensive industries, renewable energy and energy storage, net-zero mobility and buildings, cleantech manufacturing and industrial carbon management.The 61 projects have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, cutting some 221 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent over their first decade of operation.
The winners of the grants will now finalise their files and timetable, in collaboration with Cinea, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency.
