UK: launch of a national Climate and Clean Energy plan to boost British green transition

Lower energy bills for households and industry, 400 000 additional jobs in the energy transition, 5 million homes made warmer, and actions for cleaner air were presented at the launch of the national Climate and Clean Energy Plan, announced by the British Secretary of State for Net Zero and Energy Transition on 29/10/2025.

The plan aims to support investment and assist the British economy and households in their green transition. It accompanies the publication, on the same day, of the British Carbon Budget and Growth Delivery Plan, which sets the pathway for continued emission reductions in accordance with the 2008 Climate Change Act.

Recalling previous announcements, including investment in the green transition since 07/2024 (£50Bn of private investment) and job creation linked to the transition (400 000 additional jobs by 2030 for a total of 800 000 positions), the Climate and Clean Energy Plan introduces new measures covering energy security, upgrading and transitioning the heating of 5 million homes, actions for cleaner air, and measures to protect biodiversity and the…
