FR / Grid connection: " A national investment plan, a fast-growing business" (Hervé Champenois, Enedis)

"We have clearly adapted our operations. Business is growing strongly, by more than 15% or even more depending on the area. For the connection of renewable energies, particularly small-scale photovoltaics, the increase is between 30 and 50%", Hervé Champenois, technical director of French network operator Enedis, told News Tank on 29/10/2025.

In 2022, Enedis announced a 96 Bn€ investment plan for the period 2022-2040, to support the acceleration of renewable energy connections and adapt the network to climate change. To roll out this deployment plan, "we began by carrying out macroeconomic studies, then our 25 regional divisions went out to meet local authorities to discuss the risks specific to each zone. The issues at stake are not the same by the sea, in the mountains or in areas exposed to flooding or extreme heat. This local adaptation work was then aggregated to build a coherent national programme", added Hervé Champenois.
