The scope of the actions of Monique Barbut, Minister for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity and International Negotiations on Climate and Nature, appointed in Sébastien Lecornu's second government on 12/10/2025, was defined in a decree dated 29/10/2025, published in the Official Journal on 30/10/2025.

The Minister prepares and implements the Government's policy in the areas of sustainable development, environment, climate, fight against atmospheric pollution, protection of nature and biodiversity, water and prevention of natural and technological risks and industrial safety, the sea, coastline and maritime fisheries, forestry and timber and the promotion of sustainable management of scarce resources.

With regard to international relations on climate, terrestrial and marine biodiversity, the environment, risk prevention and the circular economy, she represents the Prime Minister, in European and international negotiations, in consultation with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and ensures that the agreements reached are applied.
