EUDR: ''If there is no agreement on time, the current text will enter into application' (C. Kadis)

On 27/10/2025, during the Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Luxembourg, the European Commission refused to postpone the date of entry into force of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), as it had been requested by Latvia on 24/10/2025.

At the Environment Council in Luxembourg, on 21/10/2025, the Commission proposed changes to EUDR to reduce the data load, to ensure EC’s IT system has a stable functioning, while reducing the administrative burden, as following:

• The Commission’s EUDR is due to enter into force on 30/12/2026 for small and micro-enterprises (SMEs).

• Controls and checks by Member States on large and medium companies will be postponed until June 2026.
