FR / State Budget 2026: €42.6bn of environmental spendings, including €11.9bn on energy

40.5 bn is the amount of environmentally-friendly French government spending forecast in the 2026 Budget Bill, according to data presented in the 6th edition of the report on the environmental impact of the State budget, published on 27/10/2025. This amount represents an increase of €2.1bn compared with the expenditure committed in 2025 (€38.4bn in the 2025 State Budget).

On the whole, environmentally-favourable spendings and mixed spendings (spendings that are favourable to the environment on at least one axis), represent €45.8bn in the 2026 State Budget compared with €43.7bn in the 2025 Budget.

The energy sector accounts for €11.9bn of environmentally-favourable and mixed spendings in the 2026 State Budget, an increase of €3.2bn compared with the 2025 State Budget. Expenditure associated with the various support schemes for renewable energy production amounts to €8.2 Bn in the 2026 Budget, up €3 Bn on the 2025 Budget Bill and €6.2 Bn on 2024.
