EU / Agri Council: proposals on the green architecture of the post-2027 CAP; concerns about the next MFF

At European agriculture ministers held their Agriculture Council in Luxembourg, on 27/10/2025; they had, among other topics, a policy debate on the green architecture of the post-2027 common agricultural policy (CAP) proposals, which had been presented by the European Commission on 16/07/2025. It was the first thematic discussion on a Council meeting on the proposals, further will come.

'It is the beginning of a discussion and, over the next two years, there will be a lot of things being moved around by the co-legislators', declared Christophe Hansen, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food.

During the Council, Christophe Hansen also submitted to the Agriculture Ministers the Commission’s “Strategy for Generational Renewal in Agriculture”, adopted on 20/10/2025. On the last Agri Council, which took place in Brussels on 22 and 23/09/2025, this strategy was shown as one of the four priorities that will shape the CAP after 2027.
