"Global warming is pushing our planet to the brink. Every one of the last ten years has been the hottest in history. Ocean heat is breaking records while decimating ecosystems, and no country is safe from fires, floods, storms and heatwaves. As always, the poorest and most vulnerable countries pay the highest price. We will not be able to contain the global warming below 1.5°C in the next few years, but it is possible before the end of the century, if there is a very serious package of measures that corresponds indeed to a paradigm shift", declares António Guterres, United Nations Secretary General at the World Meteorological Congress in Geneva (Switzerland) on 22/10/2025.

António Guterres also highlighted "the solutions to help communities adapt", knowingly:

• Early-warning systems: "They are finally getting the attention and investment they deserve, and observation networks, regional collaboration, and forecast capabilities are growing stronger every year", he says.
