EU/ Envi Council: Conclusions on positions for the COP30 and on the European water resilience strategy

Climate and Environment Ministers adopted their conclusions on the EU's preparations for the 30^th Conference of the Parties (COP30), which will take place from 10 to 21/11/2025 in Belém (Brazil), at the Environment Council in Luxembourg, on 21/10/2025. The Council also approved conclusions on the European water resilience strategy, presented by the European Commission on 04/06/2025, and exchanged their views on the environmental aspects of the European Ocean Pact, also launched by the European Commission in June 2025.

'The European Ocean Pact is important for us. Nice’s Unoc in June 2025 was a huge success. Since the UN General Assembly in New York in September, we have gained ratifications by more than 60 countries, which is enough to install the Pact. Now we must start without delay the implementation and make sure that the Europeans lead the the strengthening of the scientific’s watch’, declared Monique Barbut, French Minister for the Ecological Transition, Biodiversity and International Negotiations on Climate and Nature, at the beginning of the Council.
