"Member States should dedicate 6% of their CAP envelope to young farmers"(C. Hansen, Commissioner)

"Generational renewal is not driven by the CAP at EU level on its own. In the next budget, we will recommend that Member States double their efforts to ensure generational renewal, especially in those lagging. They should dedicate at least 6% of their ring-fenced CAP envelope to support young and new farmers. In the next CAP, young farmers will also benefit from a starter pack that will help them to set up their farm, and it will include support for setting up with the lump sums of up to €300.000 of investment aid, access to financial instruments, access to training and advice with CAP co-funding", declares Christophe Hansen in Strasbourg on 21/10/2025, in his presentation of the "Strategy for Generational Renewal in Agriculture".

The aim is to double the share of young farmers by 2040 from 12 to 24%.
