FR / FNTV Congress: "All-electric will soon mean all-Chinese" (V. Pécresse, Île-de-France Mobilités)

"All-electric will soon mean all-Chinese. That’s obvious. If we want the energy transition in transport to work, we have to look at the whole life cycle — and that’s just not possible with China in control. Zero emissions isn’t only about what comes out of the exhaust pipe, it’s about the entire industrial chain. I’m an eco-pragmatist and I believe in a mix of solutions," said Valérie Pécresse, President of the Île-de-France Region, speaking alongside Karima Delli, councillor for the Hauts-de-France Region (and former Green MEP), at the French National Passenger Transport Federation (FNTV) Congress in Paris on 15/10/2025.

The FNTV also champions an energy mix — NGV, bioNGV, electric, HVO, B100, and hybrid. "The right solution depends on the company and the region," noted Jean-Sébastien Barrault, President of the FNTV. According to the Federation’s mid-2025 barometer for road passenger transport, 46% of operators have invested in new energy technologies for coaches, 31% report financing difficulties, and 56% say energy choice is now a key criterion for public transport authorities…
