"Using diplomacy to promote our standards": Commission's vision for energy and climate global cooperation

"The new EU global climate and energy vision presents the EU's offer to the world: using diplomacy to protect our core interests, promoting standards for a fair transition by assisting our partners to develop theirs, and addressing the new security threats and challenges that endanger both European interests and those of our partners. This is our international strategy for securing Europe’s place in global markets and for driving sustainable change that also supports our industrial and technological strengths", declares the Commission in the presentation of its strategic approach to global energy and climate, in Brussels on 16/10/2025.

It includes:

• Adding an external dimension to the Clean Industrial Deal: aims to enhance the EU's clean technology manufacturing capacity to reach 15% of the global tech market through investments and the setting up of an EU external Clean Transition Business Council;
