EC / NextGenerationEU’s disbursements : €3,9 Bn greenlighted to Greece, Slovenia and Portugal

Greece, Slovenia and Portugal’s payment requests under NextGenerationEU have been greenlighted by the European Commission, declared the Commission on 14/10/2025. Bringing together, it’s represented nearly €4Bn. These funds are intended to support green and digital transitions, improve infrastructure and energy efficiency, strengthen social resilience and enhance public services such as healthcare and education across these Member States.

The Commission has concluded that the three countries met the milestones and targets needed for these payments. The Commission shared its preliminary assessments with the Economic and Financial Committee (EFC). The EFC now has four weeks to give its opinion on each Member State's request.

• Greece's sixth payment, amounting to €2.44Bn, has been greenlighted by the Commission, which concluded that Greece met its 32 milestones and seven targets in areas such as healthcare and education. A part of this sum is planned for the enhancement of renewable energy infrastructure.
