FR: Launch of a consultation of France's mayors on climate-energy issues (The Shift Project)

Collecting the opinions and views of all French mayors and local councillors on the climate and energy challenges facing their areas: this is the aim of the consultation launched by the French think tank "The Shift Project" on 13/10/2025.
"We are addressing local elected representatives because they participate in the democratic life of the nation and have an important executive role in the implementation of a number of measures and in the organisation of the daily lives of people living in France", says Jean-Marc Jancovici, Chairman of The Shift Project

The fifteen-page questionnaire aims to gather the views of these elected representatives on France's dependence on fossil fuels (oil, gas) and the effects of climate change on their territories, such as : heatwaves, drought and water shortages, storms, floods, fires, shrinking clays, frosts, increased disease (human and animal), loss of biodiversity, soil erosion.

For The Shift Project, the aim is to gain a better understanding of how elected representatives perceive these issues, what motivates them to take action, what can prevent…
