EP/CAP simplification: NGOs to warn on the risk of the deregulation of the agri-food system before vote

"The Commission's proposal to amend the CAP regulation is presented as a simplification effort, but it is nothing less than a serious weakening of basic environmental protections, without impact assessment or proper consultation. This crucial plenary vote follows the AGRI Committee's adoption, on 24/09/2025, of its amendments to the proposal, which go even further than the Commission, and would write a blank cheque for polluting and destructive farming practices to operate in the heart of protected areas, 80% of which are already in poor or bad conservation status due to a lack of enforcement of current rules", declare the EEB (European Environmental Bureau), WWF, BirdLife and Greenpeace in a joint statement.

MEPs will vote in the Plenary session in Strasbourg to simplify the CAP's environmental rules for farmers and increase the income support for small farms.
