Total Energies / Veolia: Strengthened partnership on energy transition and the circular economy

To combine their strengths in the energy transition and the circular economy, in order to reduce their GHG emissions and water footprint: this is the goal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concluded between French companies TotalEnergies and Veolia, as they announced on 06/10/2025.

TotalEnergies and Veolia have signed a new memorandum of understanding for further cooperation in several key areas crucial to energy transition, including :

• Reducing methane emissions from landfills

• Reducing the industrial sector’s water footprint

• Making desalination more sustainable with low-carbon energy

• Recovering strategic resources from waste


Veolia aims to maximize the capture of methane emissions in landfills. Its target is to capture 80% of them by 2032. To that end, Veolia is assessing the feasibility of using TotalEnergies’ technology AUSEA (methane emissions measurement with drones).
