Floating solar energy: partnership between SolarinBlue and the Grand Port Maritime de la Martinique

The Grand Port Maritime de la Martinique (main sea port of the island, located at Fort-de-France) and SolarinBlue, a French start-up specialising in floating solar power at sea, are joining forces to launch the "Soley Blé" floating solar power plant project in the Bay of Fort-de-France (Martinique) on 30/09/2025.

With an estimated output of between 1 and 4 MWh, the floating solar power plant will be located near the Pointe des Grives container terminal (Fort-de-France Bay). It will thus be able to contribute to the terminal's power supply.

Until the end of the year 2025, the two partners will undertake economic, regulatory and environmental studies to determine the exact location, feasibility conditions and economic model for the project.

"With Soley Blé, the Grand Port Maritime de la Martinique is taking a new step towards carbon neutrality and energy innovation. By exploring offshore floating solar power, we are affirming our determination to make Martinique a pilot region for marine renewable energy in the Caribbean", says Bruno Mencé, Chairman of the Board of the GPMLM.
