FR / SGPE: Joseph Hajjar appointed Head of the Decarbonisation and Energy Division

Joseph Hajjar has been appointed Head of the Decarbonisation and Energy Division of the SGPE (Secrétariat Général à la Planification Ecologique / General Secretariat for Ecological Planning) on 30/09/2025.

Joseph Hajjar was the SGPE's climate programme director since September 2022. He was also Head of the emissions, projections and modelling office at the DGEC (Direction Générale Environnement Climat) and deputy head of the electricity production office, in charge of the hydroelectricity division within the same structure. Joseph Hajjar is a graduate of the École Polytechnique and a Chief Engineer of bridges, waterways and forests.

" He helps to draw up national strategies and public policies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in the energy and construction sectors. In particular, it ensures that the SGPE's work is properly coordinated with the processes designed to update the SNBC (Stratégie Nationale Bas Carbone ) and the PPE (Programmation Pluriannuelle de l'Energie)", states the SGPE.
