EC: 'By staying the course, we provide stability' (U. von der Leyen, 'Climate action that works for you')

"We are committed to becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. Of course, how we reach these targets will be different. The world has changed. Global competition is fierce and not always fair. We need more flexibility, more pragmatism. But by staying the course, we provide stability for workers, clarity for businesses, and certainty for investors", says Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission in Brussels on 30/09/2025.

The European Commission organised a "Climate action that works for you" event in Brussels on 30/09/2025. Speakers included members of European bodies, as well as stakeholders, especially from the energy sector.

"We intend to do what Mr. Draghi has called on us to do: to turn decarbonisation into a driver of our competitiveness, which is an agenda of modernising our economy so that it is fit for the future. And that is very much linked to electrification", declares Kurt Vandenberghe, Director-General for Climate Action at the European Commission.
