The share of renewable energies capacity globally has increased from 27.2% in 2013 to 46% in 2024, according to IRENA Renewable Capacity Statistics. The key driver is solar, followed by hydroelectricity and wind.
Regarding the geographical distribution, Asia tops the ranking with 2.382 GW in 2024, followed by Europe (849 GW) and North America (573 GW), while the Middle East's capacity reaches 40 GW in 2024.
