Green Marine Europe: stakeholders to promote solutions for the decarbonisation of ports

Green Marine Europe held its annual event in Brussels on 23/09/2025. The association announced that they will propose a Green Marine certification on ports next year, aiming to become a European standard.

"It is a set of KPIs monitoring our objectives and the objectives the ports need to meet, relating for instance to air and GHG emissions, aquatic ecosystems, environmental issues relating to the soils, etc. We are trying to tackle a lot of issues, including how the ports are interacting with the cities and the community. It is a collaborative approach", introduces Cherif Belgaroui, Program Manager of Green Marine Europe

They welcomed panelists from across Europe to discuss decarbonisation of ports in a round-table titled "Towards sustainable ports: an environmental and social approach".
