Omnibus I/CS3D: "This is politics, and politics at its worst" (Lara Wolters, MEP / S&D / Netherlands)

"Earlier this year, the EU Commission took a U-turn on its social and climate commitments in a sweeping deregulation drive. This was exemplified by the widely criticised Omnibus I proposal, which was pushed through without public consultation and any impact assessment, allowing them to reopen and diminish legislative files such as the corporate sustainability law (CS3D). The Commission intends to considerably reduce the number of companies that could be held accountable for human and environmental rights violations, remove provisions on access to courts for affected people, trade unions and NGOs, and render the obligation for companies to reduce their climate emissions meaningless", states Friends of Earth Europe (FoEE), principal organiser of the three-day "Back to the Future" March, on 23/09/2025.
