EUDR: "a clear lack of political will to invest sufficiently in a timely implementation" (NGOs and MEPs)

"The law on deforestation was adopted nearly three years ago, and its entry into force has already been postponed for a year. A further postponement for technical weakness is simply deplorable. This is very bad news, both for the fight against global deforestation and for companies that have invested heavily in complying with this legislation", says Pascal Canfin, MEP (Renew, France), after the announcement of the postponement of the EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) on 23/09/2025.

"The EU was proud of this pioneering text; today, it looks like a colossus with feet of clay, incapable of keeping its most basic ecological promises.
