FR /Assemblée Nationale: bill tabled by the Rassemblement National to hamper growth of PV energy

The aim of the bill tabled by Nicolas Meizonnet, RN MP for the Gard department, and other Rassemblement National MPs, in the National Assembly on 16/09/2025 is to curb the growth of photovoltaic energy.

The bill consists of two articles and aims to "repeal certain obligations and standards that complicate both the electricity production system and the activities of many French economic players".

The first article repeals Article L. 171-4 of the French Construction and Housing Code, which requires certain new buildings, extensions or major renovations (>500 m2) to incorporate a renewable energy production or greening process on their roofs (or on shaded areas over car parks).

The second article repeals Article 40 of the Loi Aper, which requires car parks of more than 1,500 m² to install shaded areas equipped with renewable energy production systems.
