"We have reached the end of a system which, for a union like ours, consists of defending production sectors. For a long time, we thought that we had to produce decarbonised energy to reduce our CO2 emissions; this led to the 2015 Paris Agreement and the Green Deal, for example. Then, gradually, and in particular from 2022 onwards with the war in Ukraine, the issue of energy dependency was added. The fundamental issue is our freedom and that of our children, both from a climate point of view and in terms of our dependence on others", Jules Nyssen, President of the Syndicat des énergies renouvelables, told News Tank on 18/09/2025.
