Germany: "Promoting renewable energies while respecting the market and the system" (Government)

"Promoting renewable energies in a market- and system-friendly way" is one of the ten measures proposed by the German government for the energy sector on 15/09/2025.

These ten measures follow the publication of a monitoring report on energy, provided for in the coalition agreement led by Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. The report "highlights glaring gaps in the existing future scenarios", says the ministry.

" The development of renewable energies is undoubtedly a great success: today, almost 60% of our electricity comes from wind, solar and other sources. Nevertheless, the energy transition is at a crossroads. Energy policy decisions must focus on the market, technological diversity and innovation. In this way, we will lay the foundations for an energy transition that is not only climate-neutral, but also crisis-resistant, economically viable and reliable for everyone", says Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister of Economics and Energy.
