EU Climate Law: "An agreement is out of reach. Council decision will be postponed" (Danish Presidency)

"Discussions on the Climate Law were very constructive, and Member States acknowledged that significant progress has been made. The Danish Presidency has, however, listened to the calls from several Member States for involvement of heads of state before an agreement can be reached. Climate ministers will meet on 18/09/2025 to have a policy debate on the Climate Law with the aim of stabilising the text. It remains the objective of the Danish Presidency that the Council will agree on the European Climate Law and the NDCs before the end of the year. Coreper and Council will revert to the matter next week. It is in everyone's interest that the EU comes well-prepared for UNGA (United Nations General Assembly)", declares the Danish Presidency of the Council after the preparatory meeting of the ENVI Council, on 12/09/2025.
