Agenda of the week: events not to be missed between the 15 and 21/09/2025

This week's highlight will be the Council of the Environment Ministers on 17/09/2025 in Brussels. Member States Environment Ministers will discuss the 2040 EU climate targets (90% of GHG reduction in 2040, compared to 1990 levels, as proposed by the European Commission) and the possibility of elaborating an EU NDC ahead of the COP 30, which will take place in Bélem (Brazil) from 10 to 21/11/2025.

Various EU representatives will travel to North America. MEPs from the ITRE committee will go to Canada from 16 to 18/09/2025, to discuss nuclear energy, especially SMRs (small modular reactors). Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Antonio Costa, President of the Council of the EU, will attend the 80^th UN General Assembly in New-York on 21/09/2025.

In Brussels, several events will take place during the week, including :
•EU Innovation Days, held by the Commission, at the Square (Brussels), on 16 and 17/09/2025
•an expert satellite event on biomass as part of the European Research & Innovation Days,
•an IFRI event on international carbon credits in the EU 2040…
